From January 2017 CSCS have relinquished the Telecoms infrastructure skilled worker card (Blue Card) and the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme has taken on the responsibility for the Data communication disciplines.

New entrants requiring a ECS card Data comms Specialist will need to meet the eligibility criteria

Individuals who hold CSCS cards that have expired will need to take the ECS Health and Safety test and meet the ECS eligibility criteria.   

All CTTS Clients who have completed the C & G 3667-02 Award in Communications Cabling will be eligible.     

Card Information

The ECS Datacomms Specialist card is for operatives that are qualified to level 2 in a recognised datacomms qualification and are installing and maintaining structured cabling systems for datacomms systems.

Who Should Apply:

Skilled workers capable of carrying out, in an autonomous and competent manner:

  • The installation of structured cabling, including UTP, STP, FTP, Co-AX, general common cables, single-mode fibre and multi-mode fibre cables with all necessary containment and associated connection units; installation of earthing and bonding cables
  • Fitting out enclosures with structured cable termination equipment (connection units, hubs, switches, routers, patch panels etc)
