Design and Planning External Enterprise Networks
Aim: The aim of this unit is to provide learners with an understanding of the industry standards and requirements when designing and planning external fibre networks.
Learners will develop knowledge and practical understanding of the various techniques, skills and documentation that are necessary for planning external fibre networks.
In addition, the learner will develop an understanding of the Health and Safety practices and relevant legislation which are the pre-requisites for conducting any on-site surveys and assessments. As part of the planning process the learner will gain an understanding of the correct procedures when designing a network. Using other licensed operators’ infrastructure including distribution network operator (DNO) overhead networks and physical infrastructure access (PIA).
