This accreditation is for engineers working on the Openreach network including Openreach contract partners.

 

This module consists of two parts, a questionnaire and a practical session, the module assesses the delegate’s knowledge and ability working on ribbon fibre. Pre – requisites, the delegate should be adequately trained in the use of ribbon fibre and the splicing of ribbon fibre.

 

Day 1 – Training content:

Using the correct tools, equipment and working practices the delegate will be trained on the below tasks to the Openreach quality standard expected.

 

  • Install No drill bracket and Mobra
  • Correctly install Extra Large/Large TM joint within UG structure
  • Prepare 432 Ribbon fibre cable.
  • Introduce Ribbon cable into Extra Large/large TM joint and Loop through
  • Drop off ribbons 1 and 2 then store remaining ribbons/bundles.
  • Store all remaining ribbons/bundles into the Loop through mandrel
  • Prepare a single 432 Ribbon fibre cable and introduce into circular port (feed)
  • Install ribbon trays in correct positions
  • Splice ribbon 1 from the feed cable to ribbon 1 of the single 432 Ribbon fibre cable.
  • Prepare COF200 and ribbonise element 1
  • Splice ribbon 2 of the feed cable to element 1 of the COF200.
  • Close TM joint to the quality standards
  • Support and restrain cables as required.

 

Day 2 – Accreditation Content

Using the correct tools, equipment and working practices the delegate will be assessed on the below tasks to the Openreach quality standard expected.

This module consists of two parts, a questionnaire and a practical session. This assessment will test the delegate’s knowledge of working with Ribbon fibre.

Duration: Questionnaire 60 minutes – Practical 5 hours

Practical: Using the module Guidance you will check the standards achieved at the stages shown.

 

  • Install No drill bracket and Mobra
  • Correctly install Extra Large/Large TM joint within UG structure
  • Prepare 432 Ribbon fibre cable.
  • Introduce Ribbon cable into Extra Large/large TM joint and Loop through
  • Drop off ribbons 1 and 2 then store remaining ribbons/bundles.
  • Store all remaining ribbons/bundles into the Loop through mandrel
  • Prepare a single 432 Ribbon fibre cable and introduce into circular port (feed)
  • Install ribbon trays in correct positions
  • Splice ribbon 1 from the feed cable to ribbon 1 of the single 432 Ribbon fibre cable.
  • Prepare COF200 and ribbonise element 1
  • Splice ribbon 2 of the feed cable to element 1 of the COF200.
  • Close TM joint to the quality standards
  • Support and restrain cables as required.
